Client Background

About Project
An eLearning module was successfully developed within a 30 day timeframe to educate supporters on effectively supporting pregnant black women to prevent unnecessary birth trauma. The module focused on enhancing communication skills, promoting informed birth planning, and addressing healthcare disparities, empowering supporters to advocate for pregnant black women. Measurable outcomes have tracked knowledge acquisition and skill enhancement, demonstrating the module s effectiveness in improving birth experiences for pregnant black women.
The process
The process began with defining the purpose of the eLearning module, which was to educate supporters on preventing unnecessary birth trauma for pregnant black women. Clear goals were established, including effective communication with medical staff, creating, and communicating birth plans, and addressing disparities in maternal healthcare. The next step involved identifying the target audience as supporters of pregnant black women and outlining specific learning objectives related to communication, birth planning, disparities in healthcare, and preventing birth trauma.
An instructional design approach was developed to ensure the content was culturally sensitive, inclusive, and relevant to the experiences of pregnant black women and their supporters. Tools such as Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and collaboration platforms like Google Workspace or Microsoft Teams were utilized for eLearning development. The content was structured with clear headings, logical flow, real life scenarios, interactive elements, and audio visual aids to enhance engagement and understanding for learners.
SCORM 1.2 was implemented for content packaging and tracking, ensuring compatibility with various Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle. A feedback and iteration process was established with the client to incorporate suggestions and revisions, aligning the content with the client s needs and objectives. A quality assurance process was conducted to ensure the final version of the module met the desired standards, integrated feedback effectively, and maintained consistency throughout.
