Client Background

The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is a non profit organization dedicated to establishing quality standards for medicines and healthcare products globally. Through collaborations with various stakeholders, USP works to enhance patient safety and improve the quality of healthcare products. With a focus on promoting public health, USP s efforts contribute to harmonizing standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing global health outcomes.

About Project

The project involved the enhancement of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) organizational capacity development platform for self directed learning in Kenya, as part of the PQM+ program. The goal is to update the e learning modules to improve the training and knowledge transfer process for PPB staff. The project includes the development of online learning modules, assessments, evaluations, and prototypes for review and validation, aiming to enhance the PPB's capacity for self directed learning and professional development.

The target audience for the project includes the staff of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) in Kenya who will utilize the updated e learning platform for self directed learning. The project aims to collect feedback from PPB staff on their experience with the existing online learning platform and develop updated content based on their input. Collaboration with PPB and other consultants will ensure that the content meets the needs of staff involved in regulating pharmaceutical quality in Kenya.

The Process

The process was initiated by collecting feedback through interviews with a cross section of PPB staff to gather their user experience and feedback on the current e learning platform content. Subsequently, recommendations were reviewed in collaboration with the PPB and PQM+ team, focusing on suggestions from the PPB WHO Global Benchmarking Tool assessment that could be addressed by the e learning platform. A comprehensive report was then meticulously compiled, drawing insights from the feedback collected and the review of recommendations to serve as a guiding document for the development process. Following this, updated content was meticulously developed in close collaboration with other consultants, the PPB, and PQM+, and subsequently uploaded onto the online system, integrating training materials sourced from various organizations.

Special attention was given to addressing the specific recommendations from the PPB WHO Global Benchmarking Tool assessment, ensuring that the content was developed, configured, modified, and adapted accordingly. Suitability was further ensured through consultations with PSK and PQM+ to ascertain the seamless integration of respective content for a cohesive learning experience. The content was then meticulously packaged in an appropriate format, encompassing a fully functional online training module, source documents, SCORM package, learning materials, and detailed storyboards with text and narration scripts. Finally, approval was sought and obtained by providing a signed and approved checklist by the PPB, confirming that the updated content not only met but exceeded their expectations, thereby ensuring alignment with the organization's stringent requirements and high standards.
