About Project

The National HIV Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Tools Training Course is a project developed by the Kenya Ministry of Health, specifically under the leadership of the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP) in collaboration with partners. The target audience for this training course includes frontline healthcare professionals involved in HIV testing, prevention, and treatment services. These professionals are seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in using the revised HIV M&E tools for accurate reporting and improved patient care outcomes. The course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to effectively complete the tools and ensure appropriate reporting, thereby contributing to the overall success of HIV monitoring and evaluation efforts in Kenya.

The Capacity Building eLearning Champions Project, managed by Healthstrat and the University of Nairobi in partnership with NASCOP, aimed to empower selected healthcare professionals as advocates for eLearning initiatives. These champions underwent specialized training to enhance their skills in eLearning facilitation and technology integration, establishing a network to promote continuous professional development and knowledge sharing in the healthcare sector.

The Process

Needs Assessment was conducted to involve conducting a thorough analysis to determine the specific professional development needs of healthcare professionals in the context of HIV monitoring and evaluation. This included identifying knowledge gaps, skill development needs, and areas for improvement. It was mentioned that Curriculum Development was entailed collaborating with subject matter experts to create a comprehensive curriculum that aligned with the goals and objectives of eLearning training workshops, focusing on developing engaging and interactive learning materials for various learning styles. Technology Setup was crucial for establishing a user friendly eLearning platform with necessary features for online workshops, providing guidance on platform navigation and participation in interactive sessions. It was emphasized that Facilitator Training was essential to equip facilitators with the skills to effectively deliver workshops in an online environment, including engaging participants, managing discussions, and utilizing eLearning platform tools.

Participant Engagement strategies were mentioned to involve implementing interactive activities, group discussions, case studies, and quizzes to encourage active participation and foster a collaborative learning environment. Feedback Mechanisms were established to gather input from participants on their learning experience, workshop content, and facilitation, which was used to enhance future workshops. Assessment and Evaluation methods were implemented to measure participant learning outcomes and evaluate workshop effectiveness, assessing the impact on professional development and identifying areas for improvement. Continuous Improvement was described to involve regularly reviewing and updating workshop content, delivery methods, and facilitation techniques based on feedback and evaluation results to ensure ongoing relevance and benefit to participants.
